Food & Wine

West Dorset and East Devon have an abundance of wonderful produce, including meat, fish and vegetables. From the beautiful green fields of Devon come the cattle including the world famous Devon reds. Across the border in West Dorset you will find some of the best lamb, not just in this country but around the world. If you drive west from Lyme Regis to Sidmouth you will see the fields of free roaming pigs. Game is a speciality of the area including venison, wild boar, rabbit, pheasants and many other game birds. Those green fields also provide us with other wonderful produce like cheese, butter and of course the world famous clotted cream.

The area also is home to a large number of fruit and vegetable growers and many of those are organic. The area also has a good number of beverage makes, including breweries, cider makers, natural spring water and liqueurs. But the crowning glory of the area is the seafood, which you can see being unloaded at West Bay, Lyme Regis and Seaton. The variety of seafood is just amazing, from the wonderfully juicy scallops and lobster to seabass and mackerel, but Lyme bay is most connected with the lovely crabs that you will find in most restaurants.

The Hotel and Restaurant Association has a wide range of restaurant in Lyme Regis and the surrounding area. From Hotels with award winning restaurants to restaurants with great views over Lyme Bay to small friendly, couple run restaurants. You will find some very good chefs with many years experience in Hotels and Restaurants over the country, using local seasonal ingredients to create some wonderful dishes. Why not try some of these restaurants when you are staying in the area, go to the restaurant or hotel pages and make your stay complete.
